April 19, 2018 - Delta Dental of Ohio Brighter Future Grant Supports Access to Dental Care

Thanks to Delta Dental of Ohio for a $5,000 grant so more children can receive better access to dental care and education related to the importance of good oral health! We are grateful for their support in ensuring every child can have a healthy smile and life.

April 18, 2018 - Oral & Facial Surgery for Adults and Children Fundraiser Supports KidSMILES Patient Care

Thank you to Dr. Smeltzer and his entire team at Oral & Facial Surgery for Adults & Children for their generous donation to KidSMILES! We are the grateful beneficiaries of $1,257.45 from their annual bowling fundraiser. They hosted over 300 participants and helped to spread awareness about our cause and the need for dental professionals to volunteer at our clinic. We appreciate their continued support in our efforts to ensure that every vulnerable child in central Ohio has a healthy smile!


April 13, 2018 - Patterson Foundation Renews Commitment to KidSMILES Mission

KidSMILES is grateful for the continued support from the Patterson Foundation! We received a $7,000 grant from the Patterson Foundation this spring. This funding will help us provide direct services to patients by funding a portion of our dental assistant salary. Funding will also help us to update our volunteer management system. Both are important pieces of providing outstanding care to our vulnerable patients!

February 26, 2018 - Dublin Women's Philanthropic Club Honors Julie Homon, KidSMILES Board President

Congratulations to our co-founder and 2018 KidSMILES Board President for being the 2018 Honoree at the Dublin Women's Philanthropic Club Snowflake Gala on Saturday Evening! January 25, 2018 - Benco Gifts Supplies to KidSMILES

Local kindness is a wonderful thing! We would like to thank Jane Gabalis and Benco for donating items from our wish list to the clinic. They could not have come at a better time as we were running low on important items needed at every clinic. We appreciate the great support from the dental community that allows KidSMILES to keep the cost at $10 for each patient.

December 31, 2017 - Montei Foundation

KidSMILES is thankful for the ongoing support of the Montei Foundation. Their $10,000 grant will help us provide patient care as part of our 1,000 Smiles Campaign.

November 30, 2017 – Mercator Club of Columbus

For the sixth consecutive year, the Mercator Club of Columbus has granted KidSMILES over $1,000 to purchase dental supplies for the clinic. We are thankful for their ongoing support of our mission.

October 19, 2017 – KidSMILES Receives Record Setting Grant from Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation

We are excited to announce that in the last quarter of 2017, the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation provided $130,000 to KidSMILES to help fund a part-time dentist. A dentist will help KidSMILES maximize services to the central Ohio community while we continue to be a place for dental professionals to volunteer their time to provide services. Our goal is to increase the number of clinic days and appointments available to patients.

October 14, 2017 – Tailgate for KidSMILES is a Success

The fourth annual tailgate raised more than $33,000 to provide support for our mission of providing quality, affordable dental care and education to children in need.

October 11, 2017 – Columbus Foundation Big Give

KidSMILES received $20,306.33 form individuals, foundations and the bonus pool during the Big Give. Those funds will allow us to provide affordable access to dental care for vulnerable children across central Ohio.

October 7, 2017 – Harry C. Moores Foundation

We are grateful for the continued support of the foundation with the $10,000 grant to purchase educational outreach supplies and to hire temporary hygienists.

October 4, 2017 – New Board Members Join KidSMILES

We are excited to welcome Justin Baker and Linda Marek to the board of directors. Justin is a Relationship Manager at First Merchants Bank and Linda is the VP of Paragon Management. We look forward to their leadership on the board.

We are excited to share the success of the KiDDS Cup 2017 Charity Golf Tournament at Little Turtle Golf Course. The event raised $15,000 again this year for KidSMILES. We greatly appreciate the support of the KiDDS Foundation!

May 1, 2017 – KidSMILES Announces New Executive Director

Laura Zuber has led KidSMILES' outreach efforts since 2012 and stepped into the role of Executive Director in May of 2017. She brings her extensive experience as an educator and working with volunteers to her new role at KidSMILES.

Laura Zuber is a graduate of Miami University with a B.S. in Elementary Education and received a M.S. in Education from The Ohio State University.

Laura has helped grow KidSMILES' educational outreach program to educate nearly 7,500 children and their families each year. She has expanded their preschool and elementary outreach to include community events at food pantries, summer lunch programs, health fairs, and free stores. Laura implemented a strong patient education program at the clinic using volunteers to educate patients about dental health through play. She has helped strengthen KidSMILES' educational materials and volunteer training program, while also growing the educational outreach volunteer base by partnering with area dental, pre-dental and dental hygiene programs at area universities.

KidSMILES recently received a dental supply shipment valued at over $9,000 from the Henry Schein Cares Program. Ongoing participation in this program enables KidSMILES to continue to treat children at $10 a visit.

January 31, 2017 – Beck Foundation Contributes to KidSMILES

KidSMILES is grateful for the generous donation of $1,000 from the Beck Foundation that helps us provide a dental home for our patients.

January 26, 2017 – KidSMILES to Participate in the Ohio CareMessage Project

KidSMILES was chosen to participate in the Ohio CareMessage Project. This project provides the clinic with an electronic appointment reminder and communication system for patients. We were selected by the National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics, the Ohio Association of Free Clinics and CareMessage to participate in this program during 2017. This special project is being funded by the Cardinal Health Foundation.

January 16, 2017 – KidSMILES Receives Delta Dental Brighter Futures Community Grant

KidSMILES is pleased to announce that they received at $5,000 grant from the Delta Dental Brighter Futures Community Program. This grant will help us provide dental supplies, electronic communication and educational resources to our patients and volunteers.

November 15, 2016 - KidSMILES Co-Founders Recognized at National Philanthropy Day Luncheon

KidSMILES Co-Founders, Dr. James A. Homon and Julie Homon, were recognized as Outstanding Volunteer Fundraisers at the 23rd Annual Central Ohio Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Luncheon. This event recognized the Homons for their vision, organization and leadership in creating KidSMILES.

November 12, 2016 - KidSMILES Receives Grant from the Allstate Foundation

KidSMILES is grateful to receive a $1,000 Helping Hands Community Grant. The grant will help us continue to provide a dental home to children in need. Thank you to Angela Mikel and the staff of the Portale Agency in Westerville.  Their volunteer hours allowed us to apply and receive this grant.

The Harry C. Moores Foundation granted KidSMILES $9,509 to help us provide a dental home to 1,000 children. This is the fourth year in a row that they have provided a monetary gift and we are grateful for their long-term support.

August 24, 2016 – KidSMILES Receives Grant from the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation

KidSMILES is excited to continue our ongoing partnership with The Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation! We received $18,675 for our educational outreach program. Since our inception, they have donated more than $105,000 to help establish the clinic and support our educational outreach program. We look forward to reaching out to new groups of children in schools and central Ohio communities.

May 23, 2016 – The Dublin Foundation Supports KidSMILES Educational Outreach Program

KidSMILES educational outreach program received $4,420 for outreach materials and ADA publications from The Dublin Foundation. We will use these funds to provide informational materials to families during our outreach visits. We are also continuing to use the money to help provide dental hygiene activity booklets to families in the clinic at at several back to school and community events. These booklets provide a fun way for families with even limited English to talk to their children about developing good dental hygiene habits.

March 7 – The Patterson Foundation continues support of KidSMILES with $7,000 grant.

We are grateful for the continued support from the Patterson Foundation. This will allow our part-time dental hygienist to continue to provide coordinated care to our patients.

February 29, 2016 - Generous Donation Received from the Fred W. Carver Fund

KidSMILES is the grateful recipient of a $25,000 donation from the Fred W. Carver Fund at the Columbus Foundation. The money will be used for general operations at the clinic.

January 4, 2016 – Beck continues support with $1,000 gift for dental assistant salary.

This gift will allow us to continue to provide consistent care and direct assistance to our volunteer dentists.

February 17, 2016 - KidSMILES to Host Their First Give Kids a Smile Screening Day

KidSMILES Pediatric Dental Clinic is hosting its first Give Kids A Smile Screening Day, providing FREE dental screenings and education for kids in need. Our goal is to screen over 100 children at this fun filled event. Screening participants will receive a $10 voucher from Zimmerman, Boltz and Company to cover the entire cost of returning for a scheduled appointment.

The screening day is offered as part of the national Give Kids A Smile (GKAS) program sponsored by the American Dental Association. Please join us as a volunteer for this event sponsored locally by the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation and Zimmerman, Boltz and Company! We need both professional and non-professional volunteers to help with the event. E-mail info@kidsmilesclinic.com if you are interested in volunteering for this event as a dental professional. January 21, 2016 - KidSMILES to Host Summer Educational Outreach Intern

KidSMILES Pediatric Dental Clinic is looking for one educational outreach program intern to work about 20 hours per week for 10 weeks during summer 2016. A stipend of $2,000 is provided and mileage will be reimbursed.
